The Mission

Children in Israel have endured unimaginable trauma since October 7th. Many now live in fear—afraid to sleep alone, afraid of the dark, afraid of everyday sounds. These children have lost their sense of safety, and their parents struggle to help them heal.

The I Am Brave and Unafraid Book Project: Israel aims to restore courage to these children by providing them with copies of Ani Gibor V’lo M’fached—the Hebrew edition of I Am Brave and Unafraid as well as in-person author-led confidence booting programming. This beautifully illustrated book teaches kids to conquer their fears through the power of positive thought.

We are starting with six Kibbutz communities deeply affected by the attack: Nachal Oz, Shlomit, Nir Yitzhak, Zikim, Be’eri, and Kfar Aza. Our initial goal is to give 1,000 books—one for every child and reassure them that they are each a hero; they are brave, strong, and can overcome their fears.

These kids deserve to feel safe again. They deserve to sleep peacefully. They deserve a childhood free from fear.

The I Am Brave and Unafraid Book Project needs your support.

Donate today. Share this campaign. Together, we will help them heal.

Arielle's Visit

Team St. Louis for the Children of October 7th

Please join us at the Jewish Federation of St. Louis to hear Deborah Ben-Aderet's first hand account of life in a kibbutz on the Gaza border. Learn about her family's harrowing survival story of 10/7, what it is it like raising a family under terror attack, and how the children of the community were affected, including her own.

Arielle Turover Cohen will then present The I Am Brave and Unafraid Book Project: Israel, which seeks to deliver the Hebrew edition of her children's picture book, I Am Brave and Unafraid, about facing fears and boosting one’s emotional intelligence, to the affected children of Kibbutz Zikim. Together with all of our local supporters of this project, we will be Team St. Louis! Together we can help affected children in the region be BRAVE and UNAFRAID!

While this event is free of charge, registration is required, and donations to The I Am Brave and Unafraid Book Project: Israel are appreciated. You can DONATE to Team St. Louis and the I Am Brave and Unafraid Book Project: Israel now!

The evening will conclude with a book signing by both authors. Please pre-order your copies of I Am Brave and Unafraid (English Edition) HERE. All pre-ordered books will be available at the event.

Order Deborah’s published children's book, The Story of Reesie Peesie, our one eyed cat is about rescuing her cat in the Kibbutz HERE. Limited quantities of both books will be available for purchase at the event.

PLEASE NOTE:

- This program will not discuss government, policy or any current political agenda. It will be a very personal account with the goal of supporting the children that have been displaced by the events of October 7, specifically those of Kibbutz Zikim.

- Due to the nature of the content, this program is not appropriate for those under 15.
